Majority Leader Kim Ward Issues Statement on Passage of Second Amendment Legislation

HARRISBURG – Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) issued the following statement today regarding the passage of second amendment legislation which included SB 565 and SB 448.

“Today, the Pennsylvania State Senate passed two bills that will advance gun safety and ensure gunowners their Constitutional right to carry their firearm safely and free. The passage of SB 565 will add Pennsylvania to a growing list of Constitutional Carry states. Pennsylvania is already an ‘open carry’ state, which means so long as the handgun is visible, it’s legal to carry a firearm without a license. Background checks as on firearm purchases stays in place. SB 448 will strengthen Pennsylvania’s firearms preemption law by preventing municipalities from enacting their own gun control ordinances in violation of existing state laws.”
