(HARRISBURG) – Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-34) and Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-39) issued the following statement honoring the life and legacy of Pat Solano, who was a dedicated public servant from northeastern Pennsylvania:
“Pat dedicated his life to his community, his country and his Commonwealth. He was dedicated to the people and places of NEPA, striving to make it a better place. Pat fought in World War II, flying more than 25 combat missions over Berlin, Germany, serving our country with honor and distinction. As a trusted advisor to President Pro Tempores, majority leaders, secretaries and governors, he worked across the political aisles to get things done to create a better Pennsylvania.
“Today, there will be a chorus of people remembering the life of Pat Solano – and rightfully so. Far too often, it’s only after someone leaves us that the outpouring of kind words and praise are noted. Fortunately, we took the time to honor Pat on the Senate floor in October 2019. He then he shared these words of wisdom with us:
‘The Senate is an institution that’s the last boundary of where good minds and common sense takes place … where civility still exists and still does things in a way that you can accomplish everything if you can just maintain that kind of respect for each other and respect for this institution.’
“Pat Solano’s life was full of many chapters. We were honored to be a part of that. In today’s world, his love of good governance, appreciation for civility and bipartisanship is lacking. As we start our legislative session, it is our hope we make Pat proud and honor him in the best way we know how – by returning to those days of mutual respect and admiration for service.”
