(HARRISBURG) – Senate Majority Leader Kim Ward (R-39) issued the following statement on the U.S. District Court ruling on the 45th Pennsylvania Senate District:
“The U.S. District Court today issued a decision that seats Jim Brewster as Senator for Pennsylvania’s 45h District and we will swear him in Wednesday. The race for the 45th District presented us with an historically unique scenario. Faced with an extremely close race and outstanding legal challenges, we made the decision to not seat anyone for that district last week while we moved to examine a late-filed formal contest petition. We were creating space for outstanding legal cases to be resolved.
“Last week, we said we wanted to resolve this the right way not the fast way. We have done that. I welcome Senator Brewster back to the Senate and look forward to focusing on a legislative agenda that concentrates on helping our employers, schools and communities who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.
“Further, I am committed to working with both Republican and Democrats in examining the 2020 elections to see what worked and what we can do better to maximize confidence in our election process.”
